HiveBook™'s Settings give you control over how the app works — from protecting your data with iCloud backup, to customizing your tab bar, to inviting team members to collaborate on your apiary. All settings are accessible from More → Settings.
Profile
The Profile screen (Settings → Profile, or tap your name at the top of the More tab) lets you update your display name and apiary name. These are used throughout the app and in any reports you generate.
HiveBook does not require an account or email address. Your profile is local to your device.
iCloud Backup & Sync
Go to Settings → Data & Sync to manage your iCloud backup settings. iCloud backup is available on all plans and keeps your apiary data safe across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
How it works:
- Your apiary data is backed up to your personal iCloud account — not to HiveBook's servers
- Multiple devices signed into the same Apple ID will sync with each other
- iCloud backup is optional — HiveBook works fully offline without it
- If you get a new device, signing in with the same Apple ID restores your data automatically
We recommend enabling iCloud backup. Since HiveBook stores everything locally, iCloud backup is your safety net if your device is lost, damaged, or replaced.
Data Export
You can export your apiary records as CSV files from More → Compliance & Reports → Export Data (Pro and Premium). This gives you a local copy of your data in a format you can open in any spreadsheet application.
Exporting data regularly is a good practice for long-term record keeping, especially for tax and compliance purposes.
Customize Tabs
The tab bar at the bottom of the screen shows five tabs by default: Dashboard, Hives, Finances, Expenses, and More. You can rearrange these to match how you actually use the app.
Go to Settings → Customize Tabs to change the tab order. The More tab is always available and cannot be removed — it is your gateway to all features not shown in the tab bar.
Calendar Settings
Calendar integration (Pro and Premium) lets HiveBook sync events to your device's native calendar. Configure it at Settings → Calendar Settings.
You can choose which types of events to sync:
- Inspection reminders
- Treatment dates and withdrawal period endings
- Task due dates
- Harvest events
Events appear in your preferred calendar app (Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, etc.) alongside your other commitments.
App Lock
You can enable biometric app lock (Face ID or Touch ID) to protect access to HiveBook. This is useful if you share your device or want an extra layer of protection for your apiary and financial records. Configure it in the main Settings screen.
Subscription Management
Your current plan is shown in Settings. From there you can see which tier you are on and upgrade if needed. Subscriptions are managed through Apple — to cancel, go to your device Settings app, tap your Apple ID, then Subscriptions, and select HiveBook.
To restore a subscription on a new device, tap "Restore Purchases" on the upgrade screen and make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe.
Team Collaboration Premium
Team collaboration is a Premium feature that lets you invite other beekeepers to access your apiary data. This is useful for operations with multiple employees, apprentices, or partners who need shared visibility into hive records.
To manage your team, go to More → Team. From here you can:
- Invite team members by sending them a link or code
- View who currently has access to your apiary
- Remove team members when access is no longer needed
Team members can view and log records in your shared apiary. The team owner manages invitations and access from the Team screen.
Team collaboration requires a Premium subscription for the apiary owner. Team members can access the shared apiary through their own HiveBook installation.
App Version and Updates
Your current app version is shown at the bottom of the Settings screen. HiveBook updates are delivered through the App Store. Keep your app updated to get the latest features, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
Multiple Currencies
All financial features — expenses, revenue, invoices, reports, and forecasts — display amounts in your selected currency. Go to Settings → Currency to change it at any time. The app supports 95+ currencies organized by region:
- Americas — USD, CAD, MXN, BRL, ARS, CLP, COP, PEN, UYU, CRC, DOP, GTQ, JMD, TTD
- Europe — EUR, GBP, CHF, SEK, NOK, DKK, PLN, CZK, HUF, RON, BGN, HRK, RSD, UAH, RUB, GEL, TRY, ISK
- Middle East — AED, SAR, QAR, KWD, BHD, OMR, JOD, ILS, EGP, IQD, LBP
- South Asia — INR, PKR, BDT, LKR, NPR
- East & Southeast Asia — JPY, CNY, KRW, TWD, HKD, SGD, MYR, IDR, PHP, THB, VND, MMK, KHR
- Central Asia — UZS, KZT, KGS, TJS, TMT, AZN, AMD
- Oceania — AUD, NZD, FJD
- Africa — ZAR, NGN, KES, GHS, TZS, UGX, ETB, MAD, XOF, XAF, RWF, MZN, BWP, MUR, ZMW
When you change the currency, all existing records, reports, and invoices update to display in the new currency symbol and format. No data is lost — only the display changes.
Currency is a display preference, not a conversion. If you switch from USD to EUR, a $100 expense will show as €100. For actual currency conversion, use your bank or accounting software.
