HiveBook™'s financial tools cover the full picture of your beekeeping operation — from tracking what you spend on equipment and treatments, to recording honey sales revenue, to generating reports for tax season. All financial data stays on your device.
Expense Tracking
The Expenses tab (accessible directly from the tab bar) and More → Expenses both take you to your expense log. To record an expense, tap the + button and fill in:
- Date — when the expense occurred
- Amount — the cost
- Category — the type of expense (equipment, treatments, feed, packaging, labor, etc.)
- Vendor — who you purchased from
- Notes — any additional details, including which hives or apiaries the expense relates to
Use the AI Document Scanner (Premium) to photograph receipts and have HiveBook automatically extract the amount, date, and vendor. This saves time and reduces manual data entry after supply runs.
Revenue Tracking
Go to More → Revenue to record income from your beekeeping operation. Revenue entries capture:
- Date — when the income was received
- Amount — how much was earned
- Category — the type of revenue (honey sales, wax products, pollination services, colony sales, etc.)
- Notes — customer, sale channel, or other context
Revenue records tie directly to your financial summary so you can always see your current profit and loss at a glance.
Equipment Tracker Pro
The Equipment Tracker (More → Equipment) is available on Pro and Premium plans. It lets you inventory your beekeeping equipment — hive bodies, supers, frames, extractors, smokers, veils, and other tools — and track their condition and maintenance needs.
For each piece of equipment you can record:
- Equipment name and type
- Purchase date and cost
- Current condition
- Maintenance notes
- Which apiary or hive the equipment is assigned to
Vendors & Suppliers
The Vendors & Suppliers section (More → Vendors & Suppliers) is a contact directory for the businesses you work with — queen breeders, equipment suppliers, packaging vendors, local bee inspectors, and testing laboratories. Keeping vendor contacts in HiveBook makes it easy to reference contact information and associate expenses with specific suppliers.
Tax & Deductions Pro
Tax & Deductions (More → Analytics & Forecasts → Tax & Deductions) is a Pro feature that organizes your financial data for tax reporting. It helps you:
- See your profit and loss summary for the tax year
- Review deductible expense categories
- Identify Schedule F deductions relevant to beekeeping operations
- Generate a financial summary you can share with your accountant
HiveBook's financial tools are for tracking and organizational purposes. Always consult a qualified tax professional for advice specific to your beekeeping business situation.
