Staying on top of inspection schedules, treatment follow-ups, and harvest timing requires good organization. HiveBook™'s task system and Apiary Calendar work together to keep you on schedule and make sure nothing falls through the cracks.
Tasks
Go to More → Tasks to see your task list. You can create tasks manually or let HiveBook generate them automatically based on your apiary activity.
To create a task manually, tap the + button and fill in:
- Title — what needs to be done
- Hive — which colony the task relates to (optional)
- Due date — when the task should be completed
- Notes — any additional context
Auto-Generated Tasks
HiveBook can automatically create tasks based on your apiary records. These system-generated tasks help you stay on schedule without manually tracking every deadline:
- Inspection due — generated when a hive has not been inspected recently, based on your usual inspection interval
- Varroa check — reminds you to monitor mite levels at appropriate intervals
- Treatment follow-up — scheduled after you log a treatment, to remind you to check effectiveness or reapply
- Harvest ready — generated when the withdrawal period after a treatment has ended and honey supers may be ready to pull
Keep your inspection records up to date and HiveBook can alert you when a hive is overdue for a visit, so you do not accidentally let a colony go uninspected through a critical management window.
Apiary Calendar
The Apiary Calendar (More → Apiary Calendar) gives you a unified timeline view of everything happening across your apiary:
- Upcoming and past inspections
- Treatment start and end dates
- Withdrawal period deadlines
- Harvest events
- Tasks with due dates
- Bloom calendar events (Pro)
The calendar view makes it easy to plan ahead and see at a glance what management actions are coming up in the next days and weeks.
Notifications
Go to More → Notifications to configure how HiveBook alerts you. You can enable notifications for:
- Overdue inspections
- Upcoming treatment follow-up reminders
- Task due date reminders
- Treatment withdrawal period endings
Notifications are delivered through your device's standard notification system and respect your device's Focus and Do Not Disturb settings.
Calendar Integration Pro
With a Pro or Premium subscription, you can sync HiveBook events to your device's native calendar (Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, etc.) through the Calendar Settings screen (Settings → Calendar Settings). This lets you see apiary events alongside your other commitments in your preferred calendar app.
